(I use dark theme - you can play around with the colour values to suite your needs) If you browsed them alreadybefore excluding, then any IPTC "categories" will have been added to the db -but you can now exclude the folders and then locate their cached data on the 1st tab and delete the entries, finally clicking on Optimize.ĭoes this mean that the exclude only refers to thumbnails and not IPTC/XMP keywords? see the web page above. If you want to prevent certain folders' files having their IPTC keywords (as well as thumbnails) added to the database, exclude those folders on the 2nd tab.

Multiple instances of files on the harddisk means multiple same images in search results.īut there's complete control over this (apart from removing directories from the disk) with the Cache DB page in Settings. The "add folder" button willcatalogue the files from a location - incase you wanted to build the db from scratch or from added files without opening the folder in the Browser. Rebuild thumbnails will take a very long time. Other tools allow for deleting selected folders from the catalogue or all of them in one go.

Under View mode (also for full screen), set toggle tag to Space use optimise db once in a while to clear up missing files or empty folders - see here for what it does memory usage set to 150mb or higher, for faster browsing too. check enable thumbs caching and set to WebP format, which will greatly reduce the database size on disk and make browsing very fast.

importXMP comment orIPTCkeywordsto db (to get data from files which are browsed) To change colours of file names under thumbnails when in "Thumbnails + Filename" mode, you have to go to Browser> Item colors and add a file type, then set its color, or default color (I struggle to make it work) note that setting colours here effects the labels only in Thumbnails + Labels" viewing mode. But I used the "Sigil" app to look at an ePub file before and after I ran it through the plugin and didn't see any differences.Name, modified, size, image properties, IPTC keywords I mean - it's not such a big deal, I can run the books through the plugin. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, though. Some books that I buy on Amazon do not have any DRM (as per the author's wishes), and I also occasionally buy books at Baen, which so far as I know doesn't use DRM on principle. Is this a known problem? Almost all my books are bought at Amazon, by the way, and liberated (which is completely legal in my country) before being imported in Calibre.

Some more testing showed that the series metadata is displayed correctly on some other books, without me having to use the "Manage Series" plugin. That apparently did the trick, when I uploaded the files again to BR and FBR the series showed correctly. I then installed the "Manage Series" plugin, selected all books of a series and basically overwrote (rewrote?) the information into the ebooks' metadata.

However, it clearly shows in Calibre (latest version on Mac OS) and also in my CalibreWeb OPDS Catalog that runs as a docker container on my NAS. This is when I noticed that somehow the metadata about series that I have in Calibre didn't show up in BookFusion and FBReader. The only real alternatives seem to be either BookFusion ("BF") or FBReader ("FBR"). I'm already experiencing some difficulties with Sync between devices.

Yes, I know that it still works, but I just want to be prepared when an upcoming iOS or iPadOS release won't support it anymore. I'm in the process of looking for an alternative reader for Marvin3.
